Student LLTC Network Login Credentialing and Dual Authentication Setup

*IMPORTANT* - LLTC requires the use of multi-factor authentication when logging in, meaning that in addition to your password, you are required to enter a second passcode when logging in from off-campus. Information from the LLTC IT Department was provided to you on your Student IT Account, If you have not already done so, it is important that you complete your account activation setup - activating your Microsoft 365 account to get the full use of those resources. Your Microsoft 365 Account provides you with several free benefits including the ability to download and install Microsoft Office software for free, 1TB of cloud storage, access to Microsoft Teams, and access to a multitude of free software applications. Additionally, your email account also resides within Microsoft 365.

Since you are on this page in Canvas, the LLTC learning management system, it is likely you have many of the things in place to be ready to start your educational journey at LLTC. However, now is a good time to do a quick check to assure that you have completed the enrollment process, have your financial assistance in place, and are equipped with the technology to be successful.

Paying for School

Maybe you have this all figured out, if not make sure you have contacted our Financial Aid Office for assistance Seeking Federal or Minnesota financial aid? - then it is worth checking into assure you have completed your Federal Student Aid - FAFSA Application if you are seeking Federal student financial assistance for your education. Accommodations - Do you have any needs?

LLTC has a commitment to providing reasonable accommodations to individuals with disabilities. Currently, accommodation services for students with disabilities are coordinated through Student Services and the Dean of Students. Students are encouraged to arrange a meeting to discuss their need for accommodations, to verify eligibility for services, identify their needs, and determine the appropriate support services and accommodations. Each semester students must meet to discuss the continuation of accommodations with the Academic Success Counselor and the Learning Center Director for classroom accommodations.

Verifying your LLTC Enrollment

This is actually very simple for new student who have completed their online admissions application, just answer a simple question:

New Student Enrollments - Have you received your LLTC admissions notification?

If the answer is YES you have received your official admissions notification then you have been enrolled.
If the answer is NO, you should contact the LLTC Admissions Office to find out in your admissions application was incomplete or if there is something else missing that would prevent the completion of your admissions application.

Returning or other Status Students

Tech Tools for Online - Minimum Specifications

There are minimum technology specifications that must be met in order to operate the Canvas Learning Management System (LMS) and be a successful remote/online student. Note: these are recommendations based on information provided by Canvas (Instructure) and from other sources.

Computer and Operating System

Students must have access to a full desktop or laptop computer using an updated operating system running Windows OS or Mac OS. Accessing online courses from a tablet or other mobile device is not sufficient to perform certain functions in the Canvas LMS. LLTC Distance Education has established the following technology recommendations for students taking online courses or accessing course content in the Canvas LMS.

Internet Connection

Consistent, reliable access to a high-speed internet connection is required to successfully participate in remote and online instruction.

Hardware

Webcam with Microphone is strongly recommended for desktop computers
Speakers/headphones/earbuds for listening to audio or video

Operating System Minimum Requirements

Windows
- Windows 10
- 800-MHz or faster 32-bit (x86) or 64-bit (x64) processor
- 2 GB of RAM
Mac (Apple)
- Mac OS X 10.8
- Intel Core™ Duo 1.83GHz or faster processor
- 2 GB of RAM

Important Note

CHROMEBOOKS ARE NOT RECOMMENDED AS YOUR MAIN COMPUTER. Certain Canvas features and some software programs used by campus departments will not run on the Chromebook operating system (ex. Microsoft Office 365).

Additionally, the use of iPads and tablets to complete assignments, quizzes, etc. in Canvas is strongly discouraged, as some third-party programs will malfunction when these technologies are used.
